Farm workers protest for higher wages in Watsonville

Farm workers protested Thursday in Watsonville, leaving work to demand higher wages.

The workers say they’re upset because they are in the middle of wage negotiations with Dole and Dole has taken back their offer.

The workers, who pick strawberries at five Dole locations on the Central Coast, said they’ve received no raises in a year.

About 500 workers took part in the strike.
