Hearing planned on probable cause of Asiana crash
The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled a hearing to determine the likely cause of the 2013 Asiana plane crash at San Francisco International Airport that left three Chinese teens dead.
The NTSB announced on Thursday that the hearing will be held in Washington on June 24.
The Boeing 777’s landing gear and tail hit a seawall on July 6, 2013 after investigators said it came in too low and too slow. More than 200 people were injured.
Pilot Lee Kang Kuk told NTSB investigators after the accident that he had been concerned he might fail because it was his first time landing at the airport, and runway construction left him without any help from a common type of guidance system.
