Deputies probing possible link between two Felton burglaries
Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputies are looking into whether a reported prowler in Felton was the same man who broke into a Redwood Drive home and had contact with a 2-year-old girl.
On Wednesday, April 23, just before 9 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a prowler trying to enter a residence in the area of Russell Avenue and Gushee Street. The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 35-40 years old, between 5’8″ and 5’10”, wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt with shoulder-length blond hair. A person matching that description was seen about two hours later in the area of Redwood Drive and Valley Drive in an unrelated incident, deputy Ryan Kennedy said.
Kennedy said deputies believe the suspect from the attempted burglary may be the same person who apparently entered a home on the 100 block of Redwood Drive that same night. In that incident, the suspect picked up a two-year-old girl out of her crib but fled when the child called for her parents.
Deputies are still investigating. Residents in the area are advised to be on the lookout for suspicious individuals and vehicles, and anyone with additional information should call 471-1121
