Monterey County graduation rates on par with state rate
Monterey County high schools have a lower dropout rate than the state’s average, school officials say.
The 2013 dropout rate for all students in Monterey County was 9.9 percent, compared to the statewide rate of 11.6 percent.
The graduation rate was 80 percent in the county — which parallels the state rate.
“Monterey County students are making substantial progress,” said Dr. Nancy Kotowski, Monterey County superintendent of schools. “Overcoming greater obstacles, our students are meeting the challenges and reaching academic success. I am extremely proud of all our students and staff countywide for the continuous progress that is made every year.”
