Electric charging stations to pop up in county

The Transportation Agency of Monterey County is overseeing the installation of seven new electric vehicle charging stations.

With the help of a Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District grant, the Transportation Agency will work with property owners and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers to install the electric vehicle charging stations.

In a news release, TAMC said the new charging stations will improve the local network of charging stations and help reduce greenhouse emissions by providing an alternative to gas powered vehicles.

The seven proposed locations are:

Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula (City of Monterey) CHOMP Wellness Center (City of Marina) Central Coast Labor Council (City of Salinas) Mee Memorial (King City) Watsonville Civic Center Parking Garage Corbin Motorcycles (City of Hollister) Scotts Valley Library
