One dead after pedestrian-vehicle crash in Las Lomas
A 56-year-old Watsonville man was struck and killed while walking in the roadway of Las Lomas Drive Monday night, California Highway Patrol officers said.
A driver in a pickup struck the man at approximately 20 to 25 miles per hour just before 8 p.m. Both the pedestrian and the driver were traveling northbound. The truck came to rest facing in a northerly direction.
Medical personnel attempted CPR on the pedestrian but he was declared dead at the scene.
Neither the truck’s driver nor his three passengers were injured.
CHP officers said they are investigating the collision and it’s believed that the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time. His name has not yet been released.
