Rain advisory in effect for Monterey County beaches

Monterey County officials have posted all beaches in the county with a rain advisory.

Director of Environmental Health John Ramirez says the public is advised not to have ocean water contact for three days after the rain stops.

People are advised not to swim in or have contact with storm drain water because of possible bacteria, viruses and chemicals that may have contaminated it.

For more information about the beaches, call the hotline at 800-347-6363 or visit the website.
