Two arrested in Aptos on suspicion of burglary, drug possession
Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people early Friday morning on multiple burglary and drug charges.
Deputies went to a residence on Claus Court in Aptos around 2:30 a.m. searching for Leah Bridge, who was wanted on multiple warrants out of Santa Cruz County for burglary and narcotics.
Deputies also spoke with Hugo Castaneda there.
Castaneda, 43, had drug paraphernalia and more than an ounce of methamphetamine on him, according to Sgt. Patrick Dimick. Deputies also found several items of identification belonging to other residents in the Aptos area. That included an ID card belonging to a 70-year-old resident who reported an overnight burglary at their home earlier this week.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the Claus Court residence and found more than 60 other pieces of evidence, including other items stolen from the 70-year-old Aptos victim.
Castaneda was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $10,000. Bridge was booked into the jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and drug possession.
