Carmel pipes weren’t mapped correctly

PG&E representatives say maps of underground utilities didn’t match what they found when they dug it up and that might have led to a house explosion on Monday.

Crews say when they cut into a large pipe, they found a smaller pipe inside, which was not shown on the map. An independent engineer is trying to determine if that contributed to the explosion.

Currently, all PG&E work in Carmel is on hold.
