Hollister Police Arrest Two in Home Invasion Case

Hollister police say two suspects are behind bars after committing a home invasion robbery.

Police say around midnight Monday, Santa Cruz dispatch received a call about a home invasion in progress on the 400 block of Haydon Street. The suspects were masked and armed, and as Hollister police officers arrived, all of the suspects had fled the scene.

This is when a foot pursuit took place as officers chased the two suspects on foot, with one of them getting away before a perimeter could even be set up to catch him.

The other was eventually caught and arrested for breaking and entering a house.

It wasn’t until later the next morning, when officers were called to the area of Rancho School was the other suspect identified and arrested.

Both 21-year-old Juan Garcia and 28-year-old Peter Avila are facing charges of robbery, false imprisonment, home invasion, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. Avila was also charged with violation of parole.
