SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) More than twenty policy changes within the Santa Cruz Police Department were approved by city council earlier this week. Chief Andy Mills led a presentation along with several black leaders in the community to outline the changes.

The policing reform included examining hiring efforts that could discriminate against minorities, release body cam footage within 72 hours of an officer involved shooting, and report all police stop data (in the past only citations were required).

Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, Drew Andre reports on the policing changes coming to Santa Cruz.
