Santa Cruz boardwalk expected to reopen to county residents this weekend
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk announced that will be reopening this weekend.
Santa Cruz County moved to the orange tier of the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, and in that tier, smaller parks are allowed to open at 25% capacity or 500 people, whichever is fewer. They also may only open outdoor attractions, allow in-county visitors and only allow advanced reservations.
On Saturday and Sunday, the boardwalk said it will have 8 to 10 rides open, and reservations will be required for entrance to the ride area. The rides will be open between noon and 2 p.m. and 3 and 5 p.m.
Admission to the ride area will cost $25, and visitors will get a 25-point MyBoardwalk Card. Season pass members who live in Santa Cruz County will get free admission and rides, but they will still need to make reservations.
The rides scheduled to reopen are subject to change, but the boardwalk said they currently include the Giant Dipper, Shockwave, Fireball, Sea Swings, Sky Glider, Undertow, Jet Copters, Kiddie Cruzers and Lighthouse Liftoff.
When visitors arrive, there will be health screenings and temperature checks.
