MONTEREY, Calif. (KION)

As the heated 2020 election season comes to a close, Central Coast demonstrators make the last of their rally cries heard.

On Sunday, multiple demonstrations took place in Monterey County, with some voicing concerns on ballot measures such as Proposition 22 and others voicing support for their favored national and local candidates.

This year showed a record voter turn out.

With concerns of civil unrest, unemployment and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many said they feel this is the most important election of their lifetime.

"It is heartbreaking and perhaps even criminal some of the things that are going on in other states and other areas," says Karen Araujo, a member of the Monterey County Democratic Party.

As national and local decisions come to a close, demonstrators say their ultimate goal is to get out and cast their ballots on November 3rd.
