Police: Three Watsonville shootings Saturday do not appear to be connected, but two possibly gang-related
WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) Watsonville police are investigating three Saturday night shootings that have left two people dead, and they are working to find the suspects.
Police said the shootings to not appear to be connected so far, but two are believed to be gang-related.
The first shooting happened at around 5:20 p.m. near E. Front and Marchant Streets. Police said a 44-year-old man was shot multiple times and died of his injuries in a local hospital. This case is one that police believe is gang-related.
A few hours later at around 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting on Main Street and Pennsylvania Drive. They found a 26-year-old who had been shot and died of his injuries in a local hospital. Police do not know if the shooting was gang-related.
The final shooting happened on Blackbird Circle at around 11:40 p.m. When officers responded, they said they could not find a victim, but a shooting victim arrived at the hospital at around midnight. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was flown to an out-of-county trauma center due to the extent of his injuries. He is still in critical condition. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
