Employee at Watsonville business accused of embezzling more than $75,000

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) An employee has been arrested after accusations that she embezzled more than $75,000 from a Watsonville business.

At the end of August, police got a report from a business on Hangar Way that the employee, 50-year-old Julie Brooks, had been fired when they found out she had stolen thousands of dollars.

Detectives found out that Brooks had likely moved out of the area, and potentially the state. A judge later issued a felony arrest warrant.

Recently, detectives found out that Brooks had returned to the area, so with the help of Salinas police, she was arrested at a Salinas gas station Thursday afternoon.

She has been booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on felony grand theft charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Tyler Wildey at 831-768-3356.
