UPDATE 10/13/2020 5:35 p.m. A pedestrian died Monday evening as a result of a crash in Prunedale.

The California Highway Patrol said a 1995 Dodge Primetime was heading south on San Miguel Canyon Road south of Wilson Way at about 55 miles per hour when the woman walked into the lane and into the path of the van.

The driver did not have enough time to react, according to the CHP, so the vehicle hit the woman. The driver and passenger were not injured, but the pedestrian died at the scene. The pedestrian's identity has not been released.

The crash is still under investigation, but the CHP does not expect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash.
