MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) Monterey police have made an arrest in connection to a home burglary on Laine Street.

On Oct. 4 just before 1 a.m., police responded to a report of an interrupted burglary on the 200 block, but the suspects left the scene and were not found.

On Friday, detectives identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jesse Salinas of Salinas, who was wanted in connection to a recent home burglary in Del Rey Oaks. While investigating, detectives learned that Salinas was staying in a motel in Campbell.

At about 11:30 p.m. the same day, Monterey detectives, Del Rey Oaks police and Campbell police conducted surveillance at the motel, and when he was seen walking through the parking lot, he was arrested.

Salinas was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges related to the burglaries, possession of a controlled substance and violating his Post Release Community Supervision.

Police believe other people were involved, and they ask that anyone with information calls Det. Garcia at 831-646-3812 or 831-646-3840 to remain anonymous.
