Officer charged in George Floyd’s death released after posting bail

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP/KION) Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin has been released from custody after posting bail.

Chauvin, 44, was being held at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights in charges related to the death of George Floyd. He left the facility at around 9:40 a.m. ET to be transferred to Hennepin County Jail to post bail, according to the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis.

His unconditional bail was set at $1.25 million, or $1 million with conditions. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's roster, he was released on conditional bail.

Chauvin is facing second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter charges in connection to Floyd's death. Video taken by a witness showed Chauvin with his knee pressed on Floyd's neck for nearly 8 minutes.

All four officers charged in Floyd's death are now released from custody.
