Monterey police arrest man allegedly found with meth, heroin and marijuana
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) A Santa Cruz man was arrested in Monterey Wednesday after he was allegedly found with meth, heron and marijuana.
Police were called to the area around Mar Vista Drive and Monte Vista Drive at around 7:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle stopped in the road with an unconscious driver.
When they got there, they said they saw that driver was still unconscious and there were containers in the vehicle with what appeared to be marijuana inside.
Officers woke up the driver, 46-year-old John Guluarte, and they said he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. They also found that he was on parole.
During a search of the vehicle, officers said they found more than 500 grams of marijuana, 16 grams of meth and 36 grams of heroin. Some were packaged in small bags, according to police, and they believe they were packaged for drug sales. They also said they found a scale, more than $2,400 in cash, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.
Guluarte was arrested and is facing charges that include: Driving under the influence, possession of heroin for sales, possession of meth for sales, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of prescription drugs without a prescription among others.
