Several Central Coast post offices reopen following fires, two still closed
CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 8/31/2020 3:30 p.m. The US Postal Service announced that several post offices that were closed due to fires in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties have reopened.
The post offices will begin conducting regular mail delivery and retail, and mail held at alternative locations will be available at the regular offices again.
The following post offices have reopened:
- Carmel Valley Post Office
- Felton Post Office
- Mt. Hermon Post Office
- Ben Lomond Post Office
- Davenport Post Office
- Scotts Valley Post Office.
Davenport Post Offices are still affected by power outages, so they will not offer retail services until it is restored.
Customers normally served by the Boulder Creek Post Office are directed to the Watsonville Post Office at 225 Main Street.
Customers normally served by the Brookdale Post Office are directed to the Ben Lomond Post Office at 250 Main Street.
Customers are asked to bring a photo ID to pick up mail.
PREVIOUS STORY: After fires broke out in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, several post offices closed, but one has now reopened.
The Carmel Valley Post Office has reopened, and mail held at the Carmel Main Post office will be available in Carmel Valley now. At last update, the Carmel Fire burning off Carmel Valley Road was 97% contained.
In Santa Cruz County, several post offices are still closed due to the CZU August Lightning Complex Fires.
Customers normally served by these offices are being directed to the Watsonville Post Office on Main Street:
- Felton Post Office
- Mt. Hermon Post Office
- Ben Lomond Post Office
- Boulder Creek Post Office
- Brookdale Post Office
Customers normally served by these offices are being directed to the Santa Cruz Main Post Office on Front Street:
- Davenport Post Office
- Scotts Valley Post Office
Customers are asked to bring a photo ID to pick up mail.
