Closures in effect at some parks in Monterey County

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Several parks closed Monday because of weather conditions in Monterey County.

Officials with Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park announced that the park will be closed until at least Thursday because of wind and heavy rain in the forecast. The park is expecting flooding and downed trees.

Jacks Peak Park is also closed to visitors on Monday. County park officials said there is flooding and downed trees on the roads. The park is expected to reopen on Tuesday.

Toro Park trails are open to hikers, but they have been closed to equestrian and mountain bikes. The trails are expected to reopen on Wednesday.

Parts of Garrapata State Park are also closed. The California Department of Parks and Recreation said trails west of Highway 1 are open and Soberanes Canyon Trail is partially open.

Trails closed at Andrew Molera State Park include River, Twin Cottonwoods, Hidden and Trail Camp/Jeadlands.

The trails closed at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park include Canyon, Ewoldsen and Waters.
