Dr. Moreno: Monterey County likely to stay on monitoring list for remainder of year
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) County Health Officer Dr. Edward Moreno said it likely that Monterey County will remain on the state's monitoring list for the rest of the year.
Schools in Monterey County and other counties on the monitoring list were ordered to close and only offer distance learning. A county needs to be off the monitoring list for 14 consecutive days before schools will be allowed to physically reopen.
Counties on the monitoring list were also ordered to close indoor operations at:
- Dine-in restaurants
- Wineries and tasting rooms
- Movie theaters
- Family entertainment centers
- Zoos and museums
- Cardrooms
- Gyms and fitness centers
- Places of worship and cultural ceremonies, such as weddings and funerals
- Offices for non-essential sectors
- Personal care services, such as nail salons, body waxing and tattoo parlors
- Malls
- Hair salons and barbershops
Bars were ordered to close all operations statewide.
San Benito County is also on the monitoring list, but Santa Cruz County is not.
