Cold case Monday: Jesus Ramirez
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) One Salinas family is searching for closure nearly five years after their loved one was gunned down.
But despite the time passed, detectives remain hopeful.
“An innocent victim was out in front of his house working on his car when two appeared to be younger males ran up, shot him, ran back to a silver PT cruiser that was waiting for them…so at least three people involved in this,” says Salinas Police Detective Byron Gansen.
On october 16th, 2015, 33-year-old old Jesus Ramirez was shot to death while washing his truck.
Family members tell us he was a very friendly homebody who worked in ag.
They say there are no words to describe the pain they feel to this day.
Detectives and the family were hopeful, after a photo of the car they say was involved was released.
“We’ve checked a lot of PT cruisers, but none have panned out as far as potential suspects’ vehicle,” says Gansen.
Though no one has come forward, detectives say technology in this day and age is helping them more than ever before. And they will continue exhausting all options.
“Homicide cases don’t go away, they don’t get closed. I know it feels like that sometimes to the families, but they’re never closed. I hope somebody comes forward and helps us out and brings closure to the family, or as much closure as possible and does the right thing.”
