Monterey Bay Youth Football/Cheer League suspends 2020 season

MONTEREY BAY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey Bay Youth Football/Cheer League announced that it is suspending its 2020 season in response to COVID-19.

The league said the decision was made based on a majority vote by league presidents.

When Shelter in Place orders were issued in mid-March, the league postponed its April board meeting and suspended in-person sign-ups and registrations, but anticipated continuing with the planned 2020 season.

Gov. Gavin Newsom has not issued guidelines for reopening youth sports yet.
