Cal Fire responds to fire south of San Ardo

SAN ARDO, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 6/22/2020 6:15 p.m. The Rico Fire in southern Monterey County is up to 326 acres and 70% contained.

UPDATE 6/22/2020 5 p.m. The Rico Fire southeast of San Ardo is now 250 acres and 50% contained.

PREVIOUS STORY: Cal Fire says crews are responding to the Rico Fire south of San Ardo.

The fire is in the area around Sargeant Canyon Road and Pancho Rico Road near Dead Man's Gulch.

There were two fires, but one was stopped at 7 acres. The main fire is 75 acres and 0% contained.

No structures are threatened right now.

The South Monterey County Fire Protection District and the Fort Hunter Liggett Fire Department are assisting.
