Three marsupials found dead at San Francisco Zoo may have been killed by mountain lion
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF and KION) Three marsupials were found dead at the San Francisco Zoo, and zoo officials say a mountain lion captured in the city may be responsible for the deaths.
Zoo officials tell the CBS affiliate in San Francisco that two wallaroos and a red kangaroo were found dead in their outdoor exhibit, and a wild carnivore appears to be responsible.
A young mountain lion was found in San Francisco, and because of the unusual sighting, zoo officials tell KPIX that they are investigating whether the animal killed the marsupials.
The mountain lion was captured near Oracle Park Thursday before being taken to the Oakland Zoo for an examination. KPIX said it was later released.
