Monterey County releases COVID-19 data showing threshold for considering reopening modifications
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County reported more than 100 since Thursday, and Monday the Health Department shared where it stands in relation to considering modifications for reopening.
Monterey County's Stage 2 variance attestation was approved by the State, allowing more business sectors to reopen as the state Stay at Home order restrictions loosen.
If indicators or metrics reach a certain threshold, the county may consider reopening modifications.
The indicators involve the county's ability to test, contact trace, isolate and support the exposed; ability to protect those at high risk for COVID-19, surge capacity for hospitals and health care systems and epidemiology and general surveillance.
Monterey County's status is red in two areas- the 14-day cumulative COVID-19 incidence per 100,000 population and the overall test positivity rate for the past 7 days. That means that the county's current standing has passed the threshold.
Two areas are yellow- meaning they come close to the threshold. Those areas are the 7-day average daily percent change in total number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients and percent of county hospitals with at least 14 days' supply of PPE.
The data shared Monday shows the county's status as of Saturday.
