Concern about lost Covid-19 tests
GREENFIELD, Calif (KION) - With widespread Covid-19 testing more accessible, there's now a growing concern about tests being lost before people even receive their results.
That's what happened to Telemundo 23 Anchor Stephanie Magallon.
Last Friday, Magallon went to the Greenfield testing site operated my Optum Labs to get a free coronavirus test. She was not feeling any symptoms, but just wanted to get checked for the health and well-being of herself and her immediate family.
After nearly 5 days without her results, she decided to return to the testing site to get tested again. That test came back negative.
However, it turned out that five other people had also returned to get tested along with Magallon.
The local health department was contacted to find out what happened with her test, but they suggesting contacting OPTUM Care.
Ellen Kennedy, OPTUM Care's Account Services Manager, says the specimen might have been damaged or leaked during the transit process.
She also included that there's a 1% chance of this happening and that Magallon was in that 1%
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
