SAN LUCAS, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said crews extinguished a fire in San Lucas Sunday afternoon.

They said it started near the intersection of Monterey Street and Julius Street when power lines went down, and the fire apparently just feet away from homes.

The fire burned through an open field, but the Sheriff's Office said Cal Fire crews were able to extinguish it, and most of the damage was to dry brush.
