Small business owners say customers not using curbside pickup option
CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION) Under Monterey County's current shelter-in-place order, retail businesses are allowed to serve customers through curbside pickup. But many small business owners say that customers aren't really using the option. So it's not making much of a difference for them.
KION spoke with Chris Cleary, the owner of The Treadmill, a running store in Carmel. Cleary said he's only filled about three curbside orders this week.
“To be quite honest, a lot of the curbside pickup people would prefer us to deliver them, which we’ve been doing,” Cleary said.
Cleary said the problem with curbside pickup for retail is that people want to peruse and try things on. If they can't, then they might as well get their purchases delivered.
