Children can head to a candy store but not a playground?
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) With no backyard, some children are itching to get out to the playground.
As cities across the state of California are gradually reopening, play areas remain closed.
One observant little girl, Vivi Soto, who will be four this summer, appreciates her mom heading to the candy store for treats at Fisherman's Wharf. Yet wonders why she can't eat it at Dennis the Menace Playground.
Dr. Pierre LaMothe explains that someone who is sick with coronavirus might touch their boogies and then touch the ladder or slide. Then you come along and put your hand where the sick person touched and then touch your face -- getting sick yourself.
Candy stores, he says, "makes you feel good," and if they are selling packaged candy, then there isn't any harm.
