Arrest made in connection to Caribbean Avenue attempted murder
SALINAS, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 5/15/2020 10:30 a.m. Salinas police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting on Caribbean Avenue earlier this month.
Detectives identified 18-year-old Jose Quintero as a suspect, and on Thursday, the conducted undercover surveillance.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday, police said detectives and the SWAT team served a search warrant in the 1700 block of First Avenue and arrested Quintero. He is booked into the Monterey County Jail on attempted murder and gang-related charges.
On May 6, police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and found a male juvenile with gunshot wounds. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police said the victim was walking when he was approached by a vehicle and shot.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas police are investigating a shooting that happened on Caribbean Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 1 p.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 800 block. Before they got there, they found out there was a victim of a shooting.
Officers said they found a male juvenile with several gunshot wounds and started treating him. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to police.
Officers said it appears that the victim was walking when he was approached by an unknown type of vehicle and shot.
