Local seamstress uses recycled fabric to combat the need for protective masks
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Eulalia Mora has made and handed out approximately one thousand face masks made from left over material used to make uniforms for front liners all over the Central Coast.
Mora said she was anticipating mandatory face masks orders to make their way to the Central Coast for weeks and wanted to make the masks accessible to the public as soon as possible.
Pro Squad is the company she works for and now staff are teaming up with her to support her efforts and spread the word to their customers.
She says she’s been passionate about sewing ever since she was a little girl and wanted to help others during the pandemic.
“We all have to do our part and we must find out what can do to take care of ourselves like maintaining social distance, and looking out for each other and really, I just feel bad for those who are sick," says Mora.
These masks are selling for $5 dollars and smaller versions of the masks will be given away to children for free.
