Stimulus checks could arrive as early as next week for some
For people who lost their jobs or had their hours reduced at work, a government assistance check could not come soon enough.
According to the Internal Revenue Service, some people could receive their checks as soon as April 15.
The government is prioritizing on taxpayers who make the lowest annual incomes. Those who make under $10,000 will receive their checks first by at least April 24. People making $20,000 or less will get their money by May 1. Families and individuals making $40,000 or less will receive their money by May 15.
However, it also depends if a person has a bank account and that direct deposit is set up with the IRS. Otherwise, it could take months before a person's check arrives in the mail.
Individuals making less than $75,000 will receive $1,200 in relief. While families will receive $2,400. Each can receive $500 per child under the age of 17. Anyone making more than $99,000 or is undocumented is not eligible for a stimulus check.
An estimated 12 million Americans do not have checking accounts, according to a 2018 Federal Reserve Report reports The Washington Post.
