KPIX

(KION and CBSSF) https://livestream.com/accounts/25723746/events/8522569/videos/203861887 Governor Gavin Newsom provided an update Wednesday about how the state is responding to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the conference, Newsom confirmed that all schools in the state will be closed through the rest of the school year and continue distance learning. He acknowledged that the move puts pressure on caregivers and parents, especially mothers.

The school closure is part of an effort to promote social distancing while a Stay at Home order is in effect during the pandemic.

To help those who do not have internet access, Newsom announced that Google is providing more than 100,000 Wi-Fi broadband access points to bridge the digital divide. Google will also be providing thousands of Chromebooks for those who need them.
