As medical facilities around the country report a shortage of masks and personal protection equipment, a number of schools and universities, volunteers, and the business sector are working to address the shortage.
Missouri State University is one example. Its Jordan Valley Innovation Center is teaming up with a health care company to create personal protection equipment for healthcare workers using
3D-printing and laser-cutting technology.
Coxhealth is offering instructions for health care systems and provider groups on how to use their own 3-D printing systems to make their own PPE supply.
In South Bend, Indiana, R-V maker Jayco donated several units to local healthcare facilities and first responders.
The South Bend Clinic is using two of them for additional space, And thanks to the donation, they can give pediatric Immunizations outside of the clinic, helping keep people separated and safe.
And a whisky distillery in Seattle is pumping out a new product: Hand sanitizer. The formula is 80-percent alcohol with a bit of hydrogen peroxide, natural glycerin, and lavender from the owner’s backyard.
The company says they are providing about 50 gallons a week to each organization it serves.
