Home cleaning during the coronavirus pandemic

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the COVID-19 pandemic requires everyone to practice actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.

Many people around California, including the Central Coast, are going under "shelter-in-place" orders. However, people are still able to leave for certain "essential" activities.

Aside from washing your hands with soap and water for, at least, 20 seconds, and using hand sanitizer that contains, at-least, 60 percent alcohol, you want to keep your home sanitized.

The CDC recommends people clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily using regular household detergent and water. This includes:

• Tables
• Countertops
• Light switches
• Doorknobs
• Cabinet handles

For dirty surfaces, use detergent and water before disinfecting.
