Arrests made in two separate stolen vehicle cases in Salinas overnight
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police said they arrested two people in separate instances for allegedly having stolen vehicles overnight.
The first incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. Officers said they found a stolen Mercedes in a Pilot gas station parking lot. The person inside, 35-year-old Sammy Martinez, was asleep in the driver's seat. He was arrested.
A few hours later, officers found a Honda reported stolen near Machado Way and Kimmel Street. Police said the person inside, 34-year-old Gonzalo Madrid, saw them and ran. After a brief chase, he was arrested.
Martinez and Madrid were both booked into the Monterey County Jail on possession of a stolen vehicle charges.
