SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A Santa Clara man has been sentenced after he was found guilty of indecent exposure and engaging in lewd conduct at a Salinas fitness center.

33-year-old Joshua Andrew McLaughlin was sentenced to three years of probation and 180 days in the Monterey County Jail. He also has to register as a sex offender and stay away from the Creekbridge Fitness Center.

Investigators said just before midnight on January 27, McLaughlin got into the center, stripped down to his boxers and got into the jacuzzi and sauna. He tried to talk to a woman in the sauna, but she felt uncomfortable and went to the locker room to change into her street clothes.

McLaughlin reportedly followed her into the locker room, lowered his boxer shorts and began masturbating as he walked toward her. The woman then got out through a back door, told management and called 911.

A Salinas police officer responded and arrested McLaughlin.
