SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) A Seaside woman is facing three years of probation and up to a year in jail after she pleaded guilty to felony welfare fraud.

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office said 35-year-old Erica Posadas received cash aid through CalWorks and food stamps through CalFresh between April 2016 and March 2017.

She said she was unemployed during that period and needed the benefits to support her family, but an investigation by the Department of Social Services and the DA's Office showed that she was working at a nail salon the whole time.

The DA's Office said Posadas received $11,314 in benefit overpayment.

Posadas is set to be sentenced on April 23. In addition to probation and jail time, she will be ordered to pay back the overpayment.
