SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Santa Cruz County Civil Grand Jury is publishing its first report of the year with an emphasis on addressing climate goals.

The report states that more community outreach is needed to meet county and state climate goals, including reducing greenhouse gas caused by vehicle emissions.

It also shows that there is no public campaign to address the need to tackle greenhouse gases.

Three recommendations are highlighted in the report for the Board of Supervisors to consider.

The first is assigning an office to own the task of proactive outreach related to climate goals.

Secondly, they should require that all public-facing websites and social media pages be updated every quarter.

Lastly, when the county spends money to meet state-mandated climate goals, the Board should ensure those efforts are publicized to inspire and inform.
