Victim identified in Highway 101 between Salinas and Chualar

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The victim in a deadly crash on a stretch of Highway 101 between Salinas and Chualar has been identified.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, the victim was identified as 47-year-old Jesus Alfardo-Burboa.

On Friday, a semi-truck traveling south attempted to make a left turn from the 101 onto Hartnell Road.

At the same time, Alfardo-Burboa was in their red pickup truck traveling north when their pickup truck crashed underneath the trailer.

One person dead in crash on 101 near Gonzales

GONZALES, Calif. (KION-TV) - One person is dead after a crash on Highway 101 on Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck traveling south on Highway 101 attempted to make a left turn on Hartnell Road.

At the same time, a red pickup truck traveling north crashed into the back of the semi's trailer, becoming stuck underneath.

CHP responded to the area and confirmed one fatality in the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
