Another victim comes forward in former music teacher sexual abuse case

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Watsonville Police announced Wednesday that the former music teacher facing multiple sex crimes against children in a Salinas case could face additional charges as a new victim has come forward.

43-year-old Joshua Alfaro, is behind bars for multiple sex crimes against children in a case initially being handled by the Salinas Police Department.

Earlier this year, detectives from the Salinas Police Department arrested Alfaro, who at the time, lived in Salinas.

Detectives say that a new victim from Watsonville has come forward. They say that during the investigation, they learned that Alfaro would visit a music class at Watsonville High School, where a 15-year-old student was "inappropriately touched by the suspect multiple times."

The Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office says that they are currently reviewing the case.

Watsonville police say that they strongly believe there are additional victims, and are asking people who may have further information to contact Detective Marcos Rios at 831-768-3357.
