Prescribed burn in the Paicines area from Monday through Wednesday

PAICINES, Calif. (KION-TV) -- CAL FIRE BEU announced that they are conducting prescribed burns over multiple days in the Paicines Area of San Benito County from Monday through Wednesday.

According to CAL FIRE, they expect the prescribed burn to reach 154 acres and will be used as a training for fire crews in the event of a "live fire." They said that they will be keeping Highway 25 open during this burn.

They also said that observing smoke from the burn is normal and expect smoke visibility over the next several days. Prescribed burn smoke is less intense with a shorter duration than wildfires, according to CAL FIRE.

CAL FIRE says that the smoke from this burn will be visible in the Paicines Valley in the Baker Grade Area of San Benito County.

They also said that they will be monitoring weather conditions and if they are found unfavorable, the burn will be postponed.
