The Monterey CHP rescues a hawk ahead of the holiday

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Monterey CHP rescued a hawk Wednesday in the median of Highway 1 near Marina.

They said that the hawk was unable to fly and appeared injured.

With help, the CHP says that the hawk was able to occupy the patrol vehicle without any problems. The hawk was then transported to the SPCA for medical treatment, according to the CHP.

The CHP is hoping that the hawk can return to the skies "to soar over our freeways rather than walking on them in short time," they said.
