Pet of the Week: Meet Checkers!

mickey.adams

Meet Checkers! This stunning tripawd boy came to AFRP from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after their staff contacted us for help! Originally a stray with a serious leg injury and paralysis, Checkers had a rough start! Now, after receiving care and love from our dedicated clinic staff and his loving foster, Checkers has a new outlook on life!

Checkers is quite an energetic and loving boy, despite only having three legs! He's known to be very intelligent and curious, always interested in everything and everyone who is around him! Checkers loves running to greet his foster every time she returns home, and is extremely talkative, chirping and meowing up a storm! He's a pretty active kitty who's absolutely obsessed with playing any chance he may get!

Despite his energetic personality, at night he turns into the purrfect snuggle buddy that needs to be as close to his human as possible! Oddly enough, he also has a strange interest in water, sitting by the tub during showers and immediately hopping in once the water is off, preferring to drink from a leaky faucet or a "people" glass nearby! He also gets a thrill out of watching wildlife from the windows and has taken to hunting his favorite toys, especially his Tempur-Pedic pillow that he drags from the bed to wrestle with!

Checkers is currently at our adoptions location inside Pet Food Express at the Crossroads in Carmel. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our online cat application.

Animal Friends Rescue Project will be at the 21st Annual Holiday Parade of Lights in Downtown Pacific Grove Thursday, December 5th, , Starts at 6pm, and at Santa Paws at Pacific Pet Treats on Friday, December 6th, from 6-9pm.
