Two people injured after a car crashes into a tree on Seabright Avenue Tuesday afternoon; Santa Cruz Police

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Santa Cruz Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that a single car vehicle crashed into a tree on Seabright Avenue, closing the road to drivers in the area.

A man was driving a truck with a female passenger in the car, and for reasons still under investigation, the car accelerated into a nearby tree, according to police.

Police say that both the driver and the passenger were left in critical condition and taken to the hospital, one was going to be airlifted weather permitting.

It is undetermined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash, but Santa Cruz Police said that one of the victims may have been revived on scene. They say that both people are currently alive and still in critical condition.
