CHP release more details in deadly collision in Watsonville Tuesday morning

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - CHP Santa Cruz is investigating a fatal collision near Green Valley Road at Pinto Lake Road in Watsonville Tuesday at approximately 6:30 a.m.

According to officials, that portion of the road was closed while officers investigated the incident.

CHP officers said that a 35-year-old man from Freedom was driving a gray 2006 Toyota Camry southbound on Green Valley Road, while a 53-year-old female pedestrian from Royal Oaks, was walking in the area.

For reasons still unknown to the CHP at this time, the Toyota and pedestrian collided with the pedestrian sustaining major injuries, being pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP says that it is not believed that alcohol and/or drugs were factors in this crash.
