Hundreds reporting hearing “booms” Monday morning, source remains a mystery, here is what we do know

Monterey County, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Several people have reported feeling some sort of “boom” or “shake” Monday morning. People have reported hearing it in Prunedale, Carmel Valley, the Monterey Peninsula, and Salinas.

KION has reached out to the Coast Guard; they say they do not know of any training or sonic booms in the area. The USGS is not reporting any earthquakes at the time.

We have put in calls to the Monterey County Sheriff’s office and the Monterey County of emergency management, we are waiting on a response.
