Greenfield City Council sees City Council seat vacancy

GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Greenfield was sued for a Brown act violation regarding former council member Drew Tipton's appointment, which resulted in his resignation of his District 1 seat on October 15, according to Mayor Pro-Tem for the City of Greenfield Ariana Rodriguez.

"The judge has ruled the appointment was illegal because the item was not properly agendized to provide adequate notice to the public that an appointment would be made the night it was," said Rodriguez. "As a result, Mr. Tipton was not a legally appointed council member."

The council voted not to appeal the judge’s decision during their October 8 council meeting before the judge signed the writ, which means any decisions Mr. Tipton was voting on will have to be redone or ratified by the sitting council, according to Rodriguez.
